Dogfishing Is the New Dating Trend. But Is It a Big Deal? – menshealth.com

Image
Move aside breadcrumbing , there’s a new term that’s made its way into the dating vernacular: dogfishing. Dogfishing is when online daters pose with adorable pets—typically dogs—that aren’t theirs. The term was coined earlier this week in the The Washington Post , where the author writes: “Dogfishing is not exactly a lie—the person did take a photo with that dog—but to some daters, it feels like a veiled form of deception.” Now, I’m a sucker for a man with a dog. You give me a squishy-faced, slobbering machine and I’ll start screaming at the top of my lungs. Lord knows I’ve swiped right just because I saw a cute dog in an online dater’s photo. That’s why I undeniably agree with the author about the effectiveness of dogfishing. It works. Dogs are awesome. Most of the time I like them better than humans. But the moral duplicity with which she paints dogfishers is exaggerated. Perhaps my bar for honesty in a relationship is low, given the numerous times I’ve been ghosted , lovebombe

I also liked that he said he was tall. I’m 5’11” and my opening line (yes, I messaged him first) was, “How tall are you?” He’s also a babe, so that helped! Minneapolis world premiere plays off ‘Crazy Rich Asians,’ views romcoms through a biracial lens – Minneapolis Star Tribune

Playwright Leah Nanako Winkler is not ashamed to say it. She wanted a “Hot Asian Doctor Husband.” “It was 2017, I think, and at the time I was going through a lot of complicated feelings regarding race and dating and I thought, ‘I really want to end up with a hot Asian doctor husband,” recalled Winkler. Her dark comedy of the same name, commissioned by Theater Mu, gets its world premiere Friday at Mixed Blood Theatre. That thought came from a couple of places: Her mother’s serious illness made Winkler reflect on her Japanese heritage. And a bunch of weddings revealed that if you want to know how segregated this country remains, go to weddings. “My family is extremely diverse. My sister is married to a black dude. My mom is Japanese. My dad is white. There are a lot of mixed-race people on both sides of the family, but interracial marriage just isn’t as common as we like to believe,” concluded Winkler, after celebrating with many un-diverse crowds. “When my mother started getting s

Must love tutus: A guide to finding love (or at least a date) on the internet – AZCentral

Karina Bland Arizona Republic Published 11:30 AM EDT Aug 15, 2019 So many single people I know use online dating apps. It seems like a good way to meet people. We use the Internet for everything else: ordering pizza, booking vacations, paying bills.  I’d veer away from the more popular dating apps to ones for people over 50. That way, at 54, I’d be among the hot young things. First up, I’d need a profile, which sounded easy enough. “Must love tutus,” I began. Then I was stuck. So I turned to the Internet (of course). “Your profile should start out by describing your most prominent and positive character traits. Are you funny? Outgoing? Creative? Loyal? Affectionate? Intellectually curious?” Oh, sure. I’m all those things. READ MORE:  On how to break up, how NOT to pick up, and hanging in there Be interesting. The people in the examples were yoga masters, marat

Man Sues Dating Site for Using His Picture – AskMen

Married Cop’s Facebook Profile Picture Used for ‘Uniformed Singles’ Dating Site When police officer David Guzman (or Jason, as he was referred to in a recent dating site ad) was informed that his picture was making the rounds in a singles dating site ad, he was likely quite shocked, especially since he’s married. RELATED:   Best Online Dating Sites of 2019 According to NBC , Guzman’s profile picture — an image showing him in police blues, branded jacket and all — was allegedly scraped from his Facebook profile by NSI Holdings, the company behind Uniform Dating. Uniform Dating, for those unaware, is a dating site targeting either “uniformed singles” or those looking to hook up with a man or woman in uniform.  However, this is all David Guzman’s side of the story as laid out in his lawsuit against the singles dating service. It’s understandable that he would be very protective of his image as a law enforcement officer as well as in his capacity as a married man and a father.
