Approximate cost to clean and paint the Town of Warrenton’s 135-foot-tall water tank along North Fourth Street, according to Public Works Director Edward “Bo” Tucker.
Contractor Suez Advanced Solutions on Tuesday started power washing the structure, which can hold 500,000 gallons of water. The company next week will begin and complete painting the tower the same sky-blue color, Mr. Tucker said.

The number of licensed hemp growers in Fauquier as of July 19, according to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
The agency also has issued four licenses to process the crop in Fauquier, VDACS Communications Director Elaine Lindholm said. No county resident so far has a license to sell products derived from hemp.
Statewide, VDACS has approved 897 grower, 174 processor and 45 dealer licenses, Ms. Lindholm said.
In December, President Donald Trump signed the 2018 Farm Bill that removed hemp from the federal government’s controlled drug category.
To conform with federal law, the Republican-controlled Virginia General Assembly adopted and Gov. Ralph Northam (D) in March signed legislation permitting the industrial production of hemp. That triggered a stampede to obtain state licenses to grow, process and sell the products derived from the crop.

Commercial and privately-owned trailers of all types on Fauquier’s tax rolls, according to Commissioner of Revenue Ross D’Urso.
For tax purposes, the county values the trailers at $13.1 million.

Overdue book fines and various fees the Fauquier County Public Library collected in fiscal 2019, which ended June 30.
The library charges a 15-cent-per-day fine for each day a book remains overdue, with a cap of $5 per volume.
Fees include the replacement cost of lost library cards, interlibrary loan postage and processing for lost books.

The number of “reportable” vehicle accidents that Fauquier sheriff’s deputies have investigated so far this year (as of Friday morning).
Virginia law defines those as accidents that result in $1,500 or more of damange and/or physical injury or death.
Among Fauquier’s five magisterial districts, Cedar Run had the most crashes with 186 so far.
State and Warrenton police also investigate traffic crashes here.

Doesn’t surprise me about Cedar Run having the most crashes. Either people are driving like bats out of hell, or not slowing down approaching hidden driveways or curves, or distracted driving on roads without shoulders. It is amazing that more bicyclists haven’t been killed.
